Mr. Simpson

English Instructor

Mr. Simpson has a master’s degree from Harvard Graduate School of Education, in addition to over 19 years of experience teaching SAT classes. At Harvard, he designed his own curriculum, conducting unique research focused on standardized test instruction and achievement. He has helped thousands of students achieve their testing goals using his test methods and strategies, and hundreds of his students have achieved perfect scores. He has also written ten test-prep books on the SAT and PSAT.

Ms. Fox

English Instructor

Ms. Fox is an English professor and a certified English teacher with experience in teaching SAT English, Reading, and Writing at all levels for over 16 years. She has been teaching at Marlboro Learning Center for over 7 years and is an outstanding instructor. Her success in teaching the SAT, ACT, SSAT, and all levels of Language Arts is evidenced by her students' high SAT scores, parents' stellar feedback, and numerous requests for her tutelage. She has also guided students through essay-writing in the college application process for over 15 years, and as such is an excellent college application consultant. Many of her students have attended top universities, including Princeton, UPenn, Columbia, and Cornell.

Ms. Gross

English Instructor

Ms. Gross teaches English at High Technology High School in Lincroft, New Jersey, one of the nation's top high schools. She teaches 9th and 12th grades, and has 15 years of experience teaching SAT English. In fact, Mrs. Gross herself scored an 800 on the SAT English exam when she was a high school student. As such, she is knowledgeable in all components of the SAT English section and is exceptionally skilled at imparting knowledge to her students. Mrs. Gross has helped many Marlboro Learning Center students to achieve top scores, including 1600's, for the most recent SAT examinations. Many of her students have attended Harvard, Yale, Princeton, UPenn, etc. Her teachings greatly improve students' test-taking skills, in addition to building an impressive skill set in reading and writing and that benefits students for the rest of their lives.

Mr. Rutkowski

English Instructor

Mr. Rutkowski is an SAT expert and a certified teacher who has taught SAT and AP English for over 20 years. Mr. Rutkowski is deeply familiar with the most difficult questions on the SAT English section, and thus he is well-versed in teaching students the proper methods to attain top scores. He discusses key SAT questions on vocabulary, writing, sentence correction, and reading comprehension, in addition to the fundamentals of grammar, critical reading, essay writing and test-taking skills. He focuses on evidence-based reading, words in context, grammatical writing, passage analysis, and many other necessary skills. Furthermore, students are frequently evaluated on their reading/writing capabilities. Numerous tests, reviews, and homework assignments are standard for his classes. Mr. Rutkowski’s SAT students have shown significant improvements: sometimes as much as 300 – 400 point increases. His students not only achieve top scores, but they also learn critical reading and writing skills that will benefit students for the rest of their lives.

Mrs. Styles

English Instructor

Mrs. Styles is a certified English teacher with numerous years of teaching experience in reading, writing, and SAT English for middle and high school students. She has been teaching at Marlboro Learning Center for many years. She is a very structured, organized, and responsible teacher who is well-respected and loved by her students. Mrs. Styles knows how to instill within students fundamental reading and writing skills while also cultivating life-long reading habits with frequent reading assignments. Students in her class achieve high scores both in school and on SAT exams.

Mr. Kovalcin

Physics Instructor

Mr. Kovalcin is the author of  the textbook Honors Physics, Volumes 1 & 2. He has taught physics for over 36 years at various institutions, including Monmouth County Science and Engineering Center at Manalapan High School, where he has taught lab physics, AP Physics 1 & 2, AP Physics C Mechanics, and AP Physics C Electricity & Magnetism. He is dedicated, well-organized, and thorough. Additionally, in 2008 and 2009, he coached the Manalapan HS Physics team to first place in the National Science League, and four of his students became members of the national US Physics Team. As a former student so eloquently put: "Mr. K. definitely knows the physics material well. He can clearly and accurately explain difficult concepts so that they can be understood. He can also explain the basis and origin of the laws of physics, as well as their applications. Lessons are not spent covering material as fast as possible, but rather aiming for depth in each topic."

Dr. Demaree

Physics Instructor

Dr. Demaree has a PhD in Physics a with concentration on Science Education, and has over 20 years of experience teaching AP/Honors Physics. She served on the test-writing committee for CollegeBoard's AP Physics exam, which requires calculus, and has spent several years grading AP exams for CollegeBoard. She has been a college professor and a high school teacher. The bulk of her career has been studying the most effective practices for teachers to employ in order to have the biggest impact on students. She is passionate about improving student confidence, self-efficacy, and fundamental, transferable skills. She has taught at prestigious institutions, including Georgetown University. Dr. Demaree has helped numerous students to attain a perfect 5 in AP Physics.

Mr. Evans

Chemistry Instructor

Mr. Evans is a certified AP Chemistry teacher who has been teaching AP and Honors Chemistry for over 20 years. He holds a Masters degree in both Chemistry Education and Education Technology. In class, Mr. Evans evaluates his students' strengths and weaknesses and designs lessons to specifically address the areas that need improvement. He thoroughly reviews concepts, introduces problem solving techniques and strategies, and deepens his students' understanding of chemical principles. He has helped countless students to achieve the highest possible scores on standardized chemistry exams, and has maintained a class average of 4.4 on the AP Exam. Last year, his AP Chemistry students at Marlboro Learning Center's South Brunswick location all achieved perfect scores. When it comes to getting a perfect score on the AP and SAT II Chemistry exams, Mr. Evans knows what it takes.

Ms. Drust

Biology Instructor

Ms. Drust is a certified Biology teacher with over 15 years of experience teaching AP Biology, Honors Biology, and SAT II Biology. With her extensive experience in high school education, Ms. Drust is familiar with the deficiencies of a typical high school biology class. She uses this knowledge to target her students' weaknesses, helping them to achieve maximum scores. Ms. Drust is especially familiar with the recent changes to the AP Biology exam, and does a phenomenal job in preparing students to perfectly answer free response questions. In addition, she encourages students to apply mathematical concepts to solve real world problem as opposed to rote memorization. Her targeted and effective teaching methods have helped many a student to succeed on AP and SAT II  Biology exams.

Mr. Hwang

Math Instructor

Mr. Hwang is a certified math teacher who graduated from Brown University with a Master's degree in Mathematics. He has taught various levels of high school math over the past 15+ years, including SAT Math, Pre-Calculus, Algebra I, Algebra II, Geometry, Trigonometry, and AP Statistics. Mr. Hwang is a true "Math Guru" —he teaches the fundamentals of mathematics to help students to not only do well on exams, but to also build a solid foundation in mathematics to solve real world problems and for future advancement. Mr. Hwang's effective teachings are highly praised by Marlboro Learning Center students.

Mr. Bartlett

Math Instructor

Mr. Bartlett has been teaching mathematics for 22 years, the past 17 of which were spent at High Technology High School, the nation's leading Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) school. Having taught AP Calculus, Pre-calculus, Algebra I & II, Geometry, and Trigonometry, Mr. Bartlett has been very successful at helping students of all levels to fully understand the fundamentals of Mathematics. His students have achieved top scores on standardized tests such as the SAT and the AP Calculus Exam, a testament to his mastery of the subject matter and his ability to impart knowledge to students.

Mr. Perry

Math and CS Instructor

Mr. Perry is a certified math teacher with 15 years of teaching experience, an MBA and a master's degree in Computer Science (NYU). He has taught all levels of Math including SAT, SAT II Math 2, Pre-Calculus, AP Computer Science, Algebra I & Algebra II, Geometry and Pre-Algebra. Mr. Perry is well-liked among students for his patient teaching and his ability to meet each student's unique needs. He is an expert at diagnosing and redressing student weaknesses so that they can achieve at maximum potential. Many of Mr. Perry’s students have scored perfect 800's on the SAT Math and SAT II Subject Math 2 exams, in addition to being highly successful in gaining admission to competitive universities.

Mr. Wang

Math Instructor

Mr. Wang is a certified and extremely talented Math teacher with an impressive teaching career. He has continuously received excellent feedback from Marlboro Learning Center students in subjects including SAT Math, AP Calculus AB/BC, Pre-Calculus, Algebra I/II, Pre-Algebra, Geometry, Statistics, and Calculus I/II/III. Over 95% of students saw improvements in their academic performance, and many of them attained perfect scores on standardized math examinations. Not only is he extremely knowledgeable when it comes to the field of mathematics, he is also capable of working with all levels of students, giving each student the individual attention they need to succeed.

Mr. Robbins

Math Instructor

Mr. Robbins is a certified Math teacher with teaching experience in SAT Math, SAT II Math, AP Calculus, Pre-Calculus, Algebra I and Algebra II, Geometry, and AP Statistics. Marlboro Learning Center students have given him excellent feedback, as he is dedicated to providing the best education possible. He presents mathematics in a way that is easy for students to understand. Many of Mr. Robbins’s students have made significant improvements in academic performance and have attained top scores on SAT and AP examinations.

Ms. Ahmed

K-8 Instructor

Ms. Ahmed is exceptionally good with young children. She is dedicated to youth education, focusing on elementary and middle school students. Her strong academic background, in addition to her teaching experience with Reading, Writing and Math, make her a reputed, in-demand teacher students K-8. Ms. Ahmed has gone out of her way to search for the best materials and teaching methods in an effort to maximize her students’ potential to be advanced and motivated learners. She is popular among her students, and her students have made outstanding advancements under her tutelage.
